In the summer of 2023, I had the good fortune to accompany my sister-in-law on a trip to the Yukon. I am certain anyone who has made this journey or seen photographs knows that scenery abounds and the difficulty lies in choosing where to spend your time exploring. Fortunately for me I had the pleasure of staying with a longtime friend and Whitehorse resident who couldn’t wait to share her beautiful corner of the Yukon. I was drawn to these gorgeous little Siberian asters that had planted themselves on the seemingly endless sandy shoreline of picturesque Bennett Lake. As I was there to help her change residences, our excursions were treasured and few and I was not disappointed in scenic Bennett Lake. I believe when people share a part of their cherished world with you, they are very generously sharing a piece of themselves.
This piece was juried into and shown at the Connections exhibition for the Central Interior Chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists at the Terrace Art Gallery from June 6 to July 13, 2024.
